The employment experience / An interactive field guide

Every stage.
A better connection.

Explore the Employment Lifecycle. Move from the whole journey to the decisions, models and practical work within it.

How to explore the lifecycle

Choose a stage to reveal activities and specific topics. Use the centre, breadcrumbs or Full lifecycle to return. Follow connections in the content panel to move across stages. Your URL records the selection and supports browser Back and Forward. Tab reaches each ring; arrow keys move between its segments, Enter or Space opens a topic, and Escape moves up. On small screens, large labelled cards provide the same drill-down. Search covers all three levels.

The sequence is a guide, not a rigid career path. Legal obligations and editorial good practice are labelled separately. The legal notes are primarily for Great Britain, with UK-wide matters identified; Northern Ireland needs its own checks. This independent ADM HR resource is not a CIPD publication.

A foundation that can grow.

Explore practical summaries here, then follow the linked guides for depth. The structure separates stages, activities, topics, relationships and dated legal notes so new branches can be added without redrawing the map.

Scope and areas for future expansion
  • Detailed maternity, adoption and shared-parental-leave journeys
  • Trade-union recognition and industrial-action procedures
  • Sector-specific safeguarding, licensing and immigration sponsorship
  • Northern Ireland-specific lifecycle pathways
  • Apprenticeships, international assignments and cross-border employment
  • Detailed pay-equity audits, pensions calculations and settlement agreements

These areas need dedicated, sourced treatment in later iterations. Existing links are starting points, not comprehensive coverage of every specialist case.
